The only source giving a matching figure is River's own marketing piece claiming about $434 billion in 2025 net interest income, and River is the advertiser sponsoring this segment, so it cannot independently corroborate the claim.

An ad makes this claim. It counts as passed on, not against the post.

What was said

… Or, Native, can you can you pull it in from it's but, yeah, you know, I'll do you do that first, or you do okay, you go. You know, yeah, your bank kept 1600 dollars from you in 2025. You probably didn't notice. Now multiply that by millions of Americans. That's over 433 billion dollars in interest the banks kept. Your money goes in, banks put it to work, they make record profits, you get almost nothing in return, and when they blow up, guess who has to bail them out? So what are you supposed to do? Ask politely, wait, accept that this is just how banking works? …

What we found

Context. River's article, the sponsor of the ad in the post, reports about $434 billion in 2025 net interest income from depositors, or roughly $1,670 per adult. This is the same figure framed the same way, from an interested commercial party, so it is not independent corroboration.[4]

Context. FDIC Quarterly Banking Profile data shows total interest expense of about $108.7 billion for one quarter of 2025, a different measure from net interest income kept by banks and not a direct check of the $433 billion figure.[1]

Context. Fed interest payments to banks on reserves were about $186.5 billion in 2024, a separate, narrower measure that does not address interest banks earned from Americans overall.[2][3]

Context. Credit card interest and fee estimates vary widely by source (about $160 billion to $253 billion), so none of them addresses the claimed total.[5][6]
