The sources show only that the Maine Wire alleged NGO-affiliated interpreters at Lewiston City Hall, and that the DOJ is reviewing the footage; none independently establishes that interpreters are paid by NGOs. The claim also drops the post's hedge "likely," and its payment assertion mostly echoes the claimant's own allegation, which cannot corroborate it.

Our two reads of who says this, and how, disagree, so it counts as the post's own claim.

This claim is about the present, so it is judged as of the day it was checked.

What was said

… So, alright, so let's get into the ASWAVANA portion. I want to start out here with this story coming out of Maine, from the Maine Wire. Over the last few days, we've observed, we've observed NGOs dropping off groups of Somalis to vote in Lewiston, where, uh, where they are being aided by quote unquote translators who are likely also being paid by NGOs. What we found

Contradicts. Mediaite reports there is no evidence that any ballot stuffing occurred in the videos, but this addresses ballot stuffing, not who pays the interpreters, so it does not contradict the payment claim.[1]

Context. Multiple outlets report that the Maine Wire alleged NGO workers operated as interpreters, but this is the Maine Wire's own reporting, and the outlets repeat rather than independently verify it.[2][3][4][5]

Context. The Sun Journal reports that the city clerk said it is common practice for nonprofits to help voters and provide interpreting services under a state statute, which bears on the lawfulness of NGO-linked interpreters but not on whether they are paid by NGOs.[6]

Context. The U.S. Attorney's office said it would review complaints and video, but no finding on payment or affiliation has been reported.[1][2]

Context. The USA Journal piece from the claim's posting period says the translators appear to be paid by taxpayer-funded organizations, but this is the same Maine Wire-derived allegation repeated, so it is not independent corroboration.[7]
