As of 2026-10-21, DeGette was still a sitting member of Congress: she lost the June 2026 Democratic primary, but her term runs to January 3, 2027, and official House records from October still list her as serving in the 119th Congress.

What was said

… The woman that bought those flags that they waved on the floor of the House was Diana Deget from Colorado's First Congressional District. It was like her NGO that, that did it. What we found

Contradicts. The House Clerk's member profile, published 2026-10-28, lists Diana DeGette as the Colorado 1st District Democrat in the 119th Congress with an oath of office dated Jan. 3, 2025.[3]

Contradicts. Congress.gov's member page, published 2026-10-09, shows her 'In Congress 1997 - Present', and congresscountdown.com (2026-10-30) gives her current term end as January 3, 2027.[4][5]

Context. DeGette lost the Democratic primary on June 30, 2026 to Melat Kiros, and conceded; Reuters and Colorado Public Radio report that she will not continue past her current term.[1][6]

Context. The sources do not mention the Democratic Socialists of America as the cause of her defeat, so that detail in the post is not supported by them, though the claim itself only asserts she is no longer in Congress.[2]
