Sources support that book sales at a CHD conference event had proceeds directed to Children's Health Defense, but they attribute the donation to publisher and CHD board member Tony Lyons, not to Hines personally.

A guest makes this claim. Listeners heard it, so it counts against the post, and on the guest's own record.

What was said

… So you have actually personally been banned by this group, Children's Health Defense, these events, you're not allowed to actually go to them? No, I'm not allowed to go to them because I reported on the health secretary's wife, Cheryl Heinz, and her, she went to a fundraiser and sold her book and gave all the funds to this anti-vaccine organization, and they didn't like that. And so I've been banned from those events. But it's not just the children's health defense. Things also, you know, I have called HHS. I have written HHS. I have we try to get information from HHS. …

What we found

Contradicts. The donor identified in the sources is the publisher (Lyons) rather than Hines, so the claim that Hines herself donated the funds is not directly confirmed and is overstated as to her role.[1]

Supports. MS NOW reports that Hines' memoir was promoted at a CHD conference and that publisher and CHD board member Tony Lyons told the crowd all profits from that night's book sales would be donated to the organization.[1]

Supports. A Yahoo-syndicated column reports that Russell Brand encouraged attendees to buy copies of Hines' memoir Unscripted and contribute part of the proceeds to CHD, the nonprofit hosting the event.[2]

Context. The sources conflict on scope: MS NOW says all of that night's book-sale profits would go to CHD, while the Yahoo-syndicated column says only part of the proceeds would be contributed.[1][2]

Context. The CHD conference event and the Moment of Truth promotion involving Hines are documented, but the NY Post and headlinereporter items concern Kennedy's and MAHA Action's payments, not a book-sale donation by Hines.[3][4][5]
